In late August, Makers Emipre’s Learning Director, Mandi Dimitriadis, travelled to Syracuse, New York State, to introduce educators to Makers Empire’s Learning by Design course. Makers Empire’s 20-hour Learning by Design course encourages learning across STEM disciplines by supporting teachers to engage students in exciting, challenging learning connected to solving real-world challenges using Design Thinking.
Mandi ran Makers Empire’s curriculum-aligned Learning by Design course with 2 groups at Syracuse City School District. From August 20th – 21st she worked with 8 teachers who teach Career and Technical Education to middle school students and from August 22nd and 23rd she worked with 20 librarians from the school district.
The training was timed for the last week of the summer break and teachers are looking to begin implementing Makers Empire programs in their school buildings during Semester 1.
