Future industry meets education. Today.
What is Make Shop?
Make Shop by Makers Empire is a new service we’re piloting that offers Makers Empire schools an easy way to access professional, cutting-edge 3D metal printing technology.
With Make Shop, schools can take their 3D design and printing programs to the next level by offering students and parents access to 3D printed objects of superior, keepsake quality, designed by students using Makers Empire.
With Make Shop, students can create high-quality, personalised jewellery and objects for special celebrations like Mothers Day or Fathers Day, wearable keepsakes for holiday and religious occasions, custom school leader badges or graduation pins that capture the spirit of your school.
How does it work?
- Teachers download an easy step-by-step guide and set their students a deadline to submit their design.
- Students follow the steps to address the design criteria and produce a printable jewellery-sized piece.
- When your students have finished designing, Makers Empire will double-check each students’ work for any errors before sending them to our printing partner to be manufactured.
- Your finished pieces will be delivered to your school in special Makers Empire gift boxes, ready to sent home with students as a special gift, treasured memento and future heirloom.
What are students learning?
Make Shop offers a unique opportunity to extend students’ understanding of the design process, from receiving a brief, responding to criteria, prototyping designs, user testing, through to receiving a commercial product.
Make Shop can easily be incorporated into broader project based learning, with real-world connections to economics, maths, entrepreneurship programs, persuasive writing and more.
More About the prints
Make Shop uses cutting-edge machinery to produce your students’ designs in durable stainless steel with various finishing options: natural steel/bronze, gold-plated, nickel-plated, bronzed and matte black.
The prints are the size of a necklace pendant or bracelet charm. For more details, sign up below (there is no obligation to pay) and we’ll send you a guide with exact dimensions.
We finish off the professional package with a custom Makers Empire gift box, perfect for presenting creations to family and friends.
How much does it cost?
A few years ago, producing a custom jewellery piece cost hundreds, if not thousands of dollars.
However, 3D printing is rapidly evolving. The quality of 3D prints and materials continues to improve while the price of commercial-grade quality 3D prints has fallen to a point where it is now affordable for consumers.
For the Make Shop pilot, we can produce a professional quality metal 3D print, delivered in a gift box for AUD$30/student.
That’s less than the price of a school photo.
