Done! You can click the Challenges icon to start with tutorials, or click skip to go to the main menu and move onto the next step…
4. WATCH THE CLASS VIDEO TO CREATE YOUR OWN 3D MAZE DESIGN
The class video is a modified version of the teacher video which you watched in step 1. These shorter versions provide a step-by-step guide for your students to follow.
We suggest taking some time to familiarise yourself with the class video in order to identify any steps which may take a bit more time than others, or any particular points you might like to address with your class.
5. ACCESSING THE TEACHER’S DASHBOARD
5a. ADD A CLASS
To start using Makers Empire 3D in class, you’ll first need to add a class.
In the Teachers’ Dashboard, click Classes on the left menu.
Click +Add a class. Give your class a name, assign the grade / year level and click Create class.
If you are teaching a specialist class you can click Additional, otherwise leave Home selected.
6. ADD STUDENTS
Teachers can add students to a class in the Teachers’ Dashboard, or may choose to have older students create accounts themselves (see step 8.2).
To add students in the Teachers’ Dashboard, click Classes on the left menu. Select your class and then click +Add a student.
You will be prompted to choose a Username, Password and Display name. You can enter student’s email address if your students have access to email, otherwise select Use my email.
7. DOWNLOAD MAKERS EMPIRE 3D ON YOUR CLASS DEVICES
8. HAVE YOUR STUDENTS LOG IN TO MAKERS EMPIRE 3D
Depending on the age and literacy level of your students there are two ways to log in.
1. Log in with QR code. This option allows younger users or classes where literacy may be an issue to log in quickly. The students only need to recognise their name, no password is required.
2. Log in with Username and Password. This option allows students to have individual passwords which prevents students accidentally logging in to one another’s accounts.
9. WATCH THE CLASS VIDEO TOGETHER AND LET THE STUDENTS DESISGN
Having watched the video once (or more) yourself, we recommend playing the video all the way through with the class to give them an understanding of the goal of the lesson.
Once your students know what they’re aiming for, we suggest playing the video on a smart board or projector and pausing as required in order to allow the class to progress at the same pace and not leave any students behind.
10. CONGRATULATIONS! REVIEW AND 3D PRINT(optional)
Your students have completed a 3D design and are progressing on their journey towards becoming design thinkers. Well done!
Once your students are happy with their design they can click FINISH. Students will see the finish screen and be prompted to give their design a name and optional description.
By default students designs will be visible in their Profile > My Designs; and in the Gallery.
Students can control the privacy setting on individual designs by clicking on the eyeball icon on the finish screen. Teachers can control school wide privacy settings by clicking the settings cog in the teacher’s dashboard (top right, next to your product key).
Now that you and your students have created a few designs, you can log into the teacher’s dashboard, view their designs and download the STL files to print. Your email has your login information.
Let us know if you have any questions or feedback, thanks for using Makers Empire!
